October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). Like dating abuse, domestic violence is a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power or control over an intimate partner.
DVAM is very important to loveisrespect and our callers/chatters/texters because young adults experience the highest rate of abuse from intimate partners — nearly 1/3 of teens experience dating abuse.
For the month of October, loveisrespect is joining the NO MORE campaign to raise awareness around domestic violence and sexual assault. It is time we collectively say NO MORE to these forms of violence. As the NO MORE tagline states, “Together we can end domestic violence and sexual assault.”
For the month of October, our website will feature guest bloggers who are saying NO MORE to different types of dating abuse. Please read these posts and join us as we say NO MORE to relationships that aren’t based on respect.
