  1. I am very thankful for such a wonderful website and support network for young people. I am a 34 year old woman who experienced a relationship very similar to that of Nany and Adam several years ago. The abuse went on in many forms for several years because I felt like I had no voice. Not only was I ashamed of my predicament, I was embarassed that I stayed in the relationship for as long as I did. When I sought help from people, my feelings were often brushed aside by people telling me stuff like “when you love yourself more, you’ll get out of that relationship” or I was told I needed to let my anger and resentment toward my ex go – no one ever validated for me that his actions were very wrong, thus making me feel like what I was going through wasn’t a big deal and that it was the normal par for the course.
What I needed was an outlet like LIR to make me understand that being abused was not my fault, and that emotional abuse cuts just as deep as physical abuse. Unfortunately for me, the abuse I experienced has followed me four years past that relationship and has taken on a new form – harassment. I continue to feel like I have no voice and no power where this person is concerned (I can’t stop his antics)- which is mentally and financially draining – but I no longer feel I am under the control of my abuser.
I hope your website reaches young girls from middle school through college and helps prevent situations like mine and Nany’s. I hope the Adams out there get the serious help they need.

  2. When i got punched in the face we were on school grounds after school and that boy didn’t get detention or suspention nor expoltion and i’m still ofended by that. We dont know if that has happend to another girl almost all the time i feel afraid if thats goin to happen to me again.

  3. I am in an abusive relationship and its not as easy as people make it seem. I have tried many times to leave my husband , i keep coming back. I wish there was a place where we could both go to get help because i have noticed that im abusive aswell. We have a two year old son and i dont want him to grow up how I did . I feel like im stuck and there is really no help.
