Consent can be a really tricky subject. It can be uncomfortable to discuss, which can sometimes prevent people from asking what it's all about. A lack of communication about consent can lead to feelings of uncertainly, pressure and even sexual assault.

Luckily, there's a lot of helpful information out there that can answer a lot of those difficult questions. The blog Real Life Athena posted an article the covers both the basics and the aspects of consent that are not always clear. The author touches on topics from the role of body language to legal matters, using tons of useful tips and examples.

Another interesting post gives a whole new angle we can use to view the issue of consent. The blog Queer Dress Code breaks down the assumption that silence is the same as consent and that women should only "put on the breaks," but never initiate anything. The author challenges us to reconsider the way we think about consent and why active consent is so much sexier than silence.

Don't think consent is a big issue? Check out this recent survey that shows that sexual abuse is common among teens but feeling responsible is not.
