The live chat (IM-style) on the loveisrespect website is an alternative method of contacting a peer advocate. You will get the same one on one, confidential information from a live, trained peer advocate just as you would if you contacted loveisrespect by phone.
Remember:
- It is a confidential, one on one chat session with a peer advocate
- It is NOT a public chat room
- It is an internal messaging system used specifically for teens who need to contact a peer advocate - It is NOT a general chat messenger such as MSN Messenger, AIM or Yahoo Live Chat
- You can access the live chat by clicking on the icon found throughout the loveisrespect site - You do NOT have to download anything to use it
We receive a variety of questions from teens all over the country. Feel free to chat about anything you would like relating to relationships. You could ask for advice for yourself or for a friend in need.
Some general questions we often hear are:
- “So, what should I do?”
- “Is this abuse?”
- “Will he ever change?”
- “Are you real?”
- “How can I get him/her to stop?”
Nothing is off limits or too crazy or embarrassing to ask. We are here to help!
