Meet Taylor Brione
National Youth Advisory Board Member (NYAB)
Why did I join loveisrespect’s National Youth Advisory Board? I am the oldest of six girls. I want my younger sisters to know that dating violence is unacceptable and their older sister doesn’t stand for it. The message about dating and domestic violence that is the media is not a good one. With celebrity violence (Chris Brown and Rihanna) being glamorized, some think that it’s ok or just part of being in a relationship. I have actually heard young girls say, “I’d let Chris Brown beat me.” This is a mindset we must erase.
It’s hard though because some people don’t even recognize when the person they’re with is being violent toward them… They think it’s normal or it means the other person loves them. Double negative!
So I want to help put an end to dating violence.
What else about me? I’m super diverse and very tolerant. You can find me at ethnic, cultural, religious and other events supporting my friends and family. I love social networks… I’m on pretty much every major one there is. I also collect Barbie Dolls.
I’m ready to reach out to different communities and broadcast the message of real healthy relationships. Join me once a month on loveisrespect blog to find out what the National Youth Advisory Board is up to and how you can help.
