Spreading the Word About Healthy Relationships
We were so excited to share our new, media and health-relationship focused curriculum at the all-expenses paid Start Talking Institutes. They took place in Chicago on November 2-3, 2013 and Dallas on November 16-17, 2013. Thanks to Health Care Service Corporation and its Blue Shield and Blue Cross Plans of Illinois, Oklahoma, New Mexixo and Texas and all of our wonderful attendees for committing themselves to making a difference!
Don’t worry if you didn’t attend. You can still participate in our Start Talking campaign. We’re giving away free copies of our curriculum to schools and service providers in Illinois, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. Register here!
The next generation of anti-violence advocates — including educators, program leaders, parents and peer leaders — all gathered from Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to learn how to address issues of dating abuse in their communities.
For two days, attendees gained real-time training and learned how to implement the Start Talking curriculum from the staff of loveisrespect and members of the loveisrespect National Youth Advisory Board.
How do you define sexual coercion? What’s the impact of abusive and unhealthy relationships? Attendees learned how to identify unhealthy relationship behavior, as well as what crosses the line. Everyone became trained on the issues and discovered that their schools, youth groups and communities are not alone when it comes to these problems.
